Agrovelebit reconstructed its potato warehouse through EU funding

February 14, 2023, the potato warehouse of Agrovelebit d.o.o. was opened in Gospić. Minister of Agriculture Marija Vučković with the Director of the Administration for Agricultural Land, Plant Production and Market Sandra Zokić, in the presence of the Vice President of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković, the Prefect of the Lika-Senj County Ernest Petry, the Mayor of the Municipality of Lovinac Ivan Miletić, and the director of the company Nikola Vidaković Agrovelebit, participated in the opening of a potato warehouse, a project co-financed by the funds of Measure 4 of the Rural Development Program - implementation of operation type 4.1.1 "Restructuring, modernization and increasing the competitiveness of agricultural holdings" - investments in storage capacities for potatoes - with an approved amount of support greater than 987 thousands of euros. The reconstruction of the existing warehouse was carried out in such a way that one part of the old warehouse was demolished and three new chambers were built. The capacity of each of these chambers, which are fully automated, is from 320 to 330 tons. The part that was not demolished was arranged and three smaller chambers with a capacity of about 90 tons are located in it. They are also automatized. This project has completely changed the previous way of storage, and the process of accepting potatoes into the warehouse has been significantly accelerated. Through the project, new equipment, a forklift, storage equipment and box pallets were purchased. The investment is important because of better positioning and presence on the market, because of the reduction in the amount of waste and because of the better quality of potatoes that are stored. The Agrovelebit potato warehouse project will significantly improve the longer storage life of potatoes with new modern technology using devices that automatically maintain the most favorable atmosphere in the storage chambers. The project was implemented in partnership with the Agricultural Trade Oranica from Oštarije.
